RV'ing - Cure Cabin Fever

Welcome to the "FUN"DRAISER story of Beth's CURE FOR CABIN FEVER 2020!

Dear Friends, Family and Community,

Do you have CABIN FEVER? Well, I might have the CURERV'ing! Do you want SAFE VISITS to your family and friends? RV'ing!

I hope you are doing well and staying safe and positive (this crazy year)! We are all going through life-changing and extremely challenging times during the Covid-19 Pandemic and Civil Justice unrest. Most of us are feeling cooped up inside our homes with little sense of our familiar freedom to travel and enjoy the outdoors as we once knew life to be. Like me, I hope that you are trying to take the wisest precautionary measures necessary to continue enjoying life while staying safe!

Sooooo, it was time to get creative and think outside the box while also making ends meet! Since losing my event and marketing job(s) in Feb/March, I've been reflecting on innovative solutions of how to earn an income while also doing something I am passionate about - travel, hospitality, transportation and recreation! Hence, investing in the ownership of an RV!

Here are the four leading reasons:

1) to rent it out for recreational road and camping trips to friends/family/community

2) to use it myself for recreational road and camping trips (come with me!)

3) to have it as a back-up to avoid homelessness (worst case scenario)

4) to donate the RV to local charity community events (such as www.grassrootsneighbors.org)

I have done a considerable amount of research for over 10 weeks: talking to experts and fellow RV owners and sellers, test driving a few different models (which was really fun!) and knowing the right questions to ask. I have determined that a Class C is most suitable because they are easy to drive (they feel like a truck making it good for beginner RV'rs), have more sleeping space, have powerful engine chassis, and tend to be smaller and easier to find camping ground space. The RV that I will purchase will sleep up to 6 people including an overhead queen size bed and will be 26 feet in length or less.

The photo above with me in the 2004 Tioga was AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY and the last RV that I recently test drove. It was in tip top condition! I went to Riverside early that day, made an offer of a deposit only but because I didn't have all the funds in hand, I was immediately outbid in front of my masked face by another party. Lesson learned: I need to have all my ducks in a row and be prepared with the funds to make an offer next time!

This is not an easy ask as I know that many of you are also trying to figure out ways to make ends meet and I've never asked for anything like this before. Thankfully, I am currently receiving SNAP (food stamps) so food is not a problem. But EDD (California Unemployment Dept) has not yet come through with any payments due to me because of their administrative black hole (I have reached out to my Assemblywoman for help and waiting). Many of you have been economically affected just like I am and are also trying to figure out your next step as well. So, whether you decide to donate, be an investor, offer in-kind help, or just provide your moral support by following my journey (IG account coming), I am eternally grateful!

With the last of my savings and my mother's contribution, I am starting with $8k. The goal is to raise investment and/or donations of 16.5k for the purchase of a reliable RV in great condition (about $22k + tax) this summer. RV's sales are up by 170% and the few that I have inquired about (gems) were literally sold within the same day that they were posted! People want alternatives from flying in planes right now. We all just want to get away for vacation and enjoy some fresh air and nature… right?

If you're ready and able to support and share my little vision, here's what I'm asking/offering back:

DONATOR - of any amount, not interested in RV'ing/camping but support the idea!

INVESTOR - if you give a minimum of $360 in this campaign, I'll know you're an investor (min 3 days of renting = $120/day investment). Please be sure to leave a note with your contribution. VALID FOR THREE YEARS!

SUPPORTER - add a comment below and support my journey (moral support, offering property/driveway to park, travel ideas, mechanical expert advice, follow my IG, etc.)

INCLUSIONS/FAQ'S will be listed in the Updates tab:

Here are a few INCLUSIONS:

1) Up to 150 miles a day (plus mileage thereafter)

2) Full Cleaning and disinfecting before usage

3) House/Pet sitting while you rent RV (optional)

4) Discount rates: 7- 9 days 15%, 10-14 days 20% discounted
