LOCAL HERO!!
"Saves his dogs by getting them out of danger as he injures himself in the process."
On Halloween morning about 6:15 am, Leighton's life changed drastically!!
He is a hero!! He woke up to the sound of smoke alarms screeching and then he noticed that the couch was fully engulfed in flames. Realizing the situation- he then got Summer out the back door, but the other dog named Peanut was in the far back room. For some reason Peanut would not sleep in his room Friday night beforehand, as he usually sleeps on the couch, in his room. After he let Summer out the back he then hurt both feet. The right foot has 2nd degree burns and the other foot is severely sprained. He walked on both of his injured feet all the way to the back room and grabbed Peanut. He carried a 60-70 lb. dog out of the front door and all the way around the house, to the back gate.
Leighton had also walked to both neighbors' houses trying to get help! Once he saw the neighbors come out he collapsed from exhaustion and his feet gave-out completely. The next door neighbor is a volunteer fireman and he vanquished the fire. A huge thank you to (Jesse) and his bravery that saved this home.
Please share Leighton's story as he continues in his recovery. The home is inhabitable. An estimated $30,000 in damages, but he is grateful to be alive and that he saved those babies!
