Need Safe Vehicle To Work
I need help to get back to work to help my husband who is disabled & I get back on our feet again until he is well enough to go back to work again. I will try to condense our story the best I can.
On April of 2024, My husband was seriously injured on the job after almost 18 yrs as a beloved school bus driver he was affectionately known as "Bus Dad". He was immediately forced by his doctors orders to stop driving bus permanently. Shortly after on Oct 31st 2024 he had to have an emergency cervical fusion C4-C7 surgery done. 8 months later after being repeatly gaslighted by the neurosurgeon over our growing concerns that he wasn't getting better but worse, On June 9th 2025 I rushed my husband to our local ER when he suddenly became incoherent, labored breathing, pacing, disoriented and beat red. He almost died from sepsis shock from that botched emergency cervical fusion surgery from a slow insidious sepsis. Imagine thinking it was the excessive amount if gabapentin this Nuerosurgeon kept upping him on, that flip his mind & demanding that he be off them righ now, only to be taken aside & told that they're sorry, your husband will die in the next few hours & I need to preparemyselfand our family. I hysterically grabbed every prayer warrior I could at home, our church, local churches, churches across the nation and churches around the world, bawling like a baby begging Jesus for the life of my husband, very best friend in the world.
Almost 3 days later, by a Major Massive Miracle that defied medical logic and baffled all Specialists and doctors working on him, he survived! (Thank you Jesus 🙌🏻) but his battle would not end there. We would spend the next 2 months in the hospital as they raced to find locate source of the sepsis and the fight to save his life continued. I watch my husband day in & out suffer horribly. An altered my state, In and out of consciousness, not knowing who or where he was, who I was at times, panicked like a scared animal, waxing and waning, screaming in pain. It was almost more than I could bare & had all I could do to stay strong in Jesus Name for myself for him. After he had every test & every antibiotic under the sun thrown at him. Even the CDC & infectous Disease was involved the danger was finally over. Now the long road up the mountain to recovery. But we are thankful for that mountain we almost didn't have on to climb. All the doctor anecdotally concluded it had to be from that surgery. But there job was as I begged them too, "Do whatever you have to do please save my husbands life" they did just that and I am eternally grateful to my God (Jesus) & for all the medical staff at Augusta Maine General for all they did for him
2 years and 4 years later of trying to go after this Nuerosurgeon and Northern Light Hospital in Bangor, I got repeatly insensitively told that unless my husband actually died or lost limbs or if we had $200,000 to further their initial free 3 month investigation... sorry they can't help us. All concluding that Maine state laws protect doctors even the bad ones. We went from working hard all our lives sitting comfortably making $4000 per month, making plans to retire, travel, spend more time with kids and grandkids, life changing without warning. Suddenly selling off our antiques, my husband's massive sport memorabilia collection, stuff we collected over the years buying back our childhood (we both grew up poor), to selling our furniture, then our firearms and then lastly our wedding bands. That was the worst. Just to survive All this from April of 2024 till July of 2025 when my husbands SSI finally kicked in. He was so out if it I could even tell him the day it did. Which I am thankful for I began throwing whatever money I could at whatever most important bills needed it first. But go from what we did make before all this to a fixed income of 1300 a month (which I'm thankful for) its shell shocking. I had no choice when my husband first got injured but to understandably to get done working so I could care for him. We've been reduce to public assistance. Its invasive, embarrassing, and humiliating. Let me tell ya, not all case workers have a nice personality. Some are naturally condescending and rude.
Our small church of mostly elders & our adult kids with families who are all struggling themselves in this economy, have helped with what little they can. Two saints in our church pulled together to put an old beater together they had for us (because our nice new one sadly had to be voluntarily repossessed in all this nightmare) to get us temporarily by to take my husband to his doctors appts., to go to church and run errands locally (Thank you Jesus for them ❤️) BUT about 4 months ago someone else's unmanned old dangerous beater slipped a gear in a parking lot rolled backwards and plowed into ours snapping stuf internally & damaging it to the point its now unsafe to drive. We both had the same insurance, But because she had the better insurance through them 🙄 she got off. Even though it was her was at fault. They ignored their own garages internal assessments & qoute, sent lackys down to "look" at the external to get out of paying for the repairs. You can't write this stuff. At this point we could write an epic country song. Literally every light on the dashboard it on. Advisably by both my insurances garage and our own (who we went to first before our insurance told us to go to theirs) who both agree on the same damages despite the insurance lackys "professional" opinions and not supposed to be driving it around town. But what choice to I got right now. I have to. He needs to get to his appts to get better We need Church and I have to run normal household errands. I do try to be careful and baby it. But Its enough to make a grown woman cry. And I have more than once.
I'm not asking for the ridiculous like a new expensive sports car or expensive tesla truck
Just from scouting Facebook marketplace, $7500.00 I figured is fair & would be enough to get us decent safer reliable used vehicle then what I have now till we get back on our feet. Thats all I want. I was a personal shopper for 5 years with a clientele & a 5 star rating before this happened even was offered a job to become a medical courier because I have a past medical background as a CNA.
I just need help get us out of this financial nightmare. We would be extremely grateful to kind hearts who understand &and have been there who give & will ask our Jesus to bless you for it. He is faithful to do it.
We've been though a surreal amount of alot. Thank you for your consideration.
