#APackandShip4SanLeon
As I reflect on our journey since moving to San Leon, TX, I'm reminded of the challenges we faced in the beginning—the feeling of not being accepted, the judgmental stares, and the hurtful comments that weighed heavily on our hearts. However, amidst the adversity, a dream began to take shape—a dream of bringing change to San Leon by starting the town's first pack and ship store.
When we first arrived in San Leon, I was filled with excitement and anticipation for the new chapter ahead. But as days turned into weeks, I couldn't shake off the feeling of being an outsider—a feeling exacerbated by the dirty looks and disrespectful comments we encountered.
It was difficult, to say the least. There were moments when I questioned our decision to move here, moments when I felt like packing up and leaving. But deep down, I knew that giving up wasn't an option. I refused to let the negativity of others define our experience in this beautiful town.
And so, we persevered. We immersed ourselves in the community, reaching out to our neighbors, volunteering at local events, and trying to make connections wherever we could. Slowly but surely, we began to find our place in San Leon.
But amidst the struggle to find acceptance, a spark of inspiration ignited within me. I realized that San Leon was missing something essential—a pack and ship store. And so, I made it my mission to fill that void, to bring convenience and connection to our community by starting the town's first pack and ship store.
With each passing day, as I worked tirelessly to turn my dream into reality, I found renewed purpose and determination. The challenges we faced only fueled my desire to make a difference, to create something meaningful for the people of San Leon.
Looking back now, I realize that our journey wasn't just about finding acceptance—it was about finding ourselves and our purpose. It was about learning to stand tall in the face of adversity, to hold onto hope when all seemed lost, and to believe in the power of resilience and perseverance.
And so, as I write these words, I do so with a sense of gratitude for the challenges we've overcome and the growth we've experienced along the way. San Leon may not have been an easy place to settle into at first, but it's become our home—a place where we've found acceptance, belonging, and a sense of community unlike any other.
With each passing day, I'm reminded that adversity only makes us stronger, and that true acceptance comes from within. And as we continue our journey in San Leon, I'm filled with hope and excitement for the adventures that lie ahead, and for the opportunity to bring positive change to our beloved town.
So here's to dreaming big, taking risks, and daring to make a difference. Here's to the journey ahead—the journey towards change in San Leon.
With gratitude and resilience,
Kashanna Hinkle-Felder
