My name is Nina Gorman a 68 year old psychotherapist and psychology teacher in Philadelphia, Pa., USA and supporter of rights of humanity. I am doing this campaign to assist my dear friend Areej Al Masri from Nuseirat, Gaza and her family of seven to survive the terrible genocidal war in Gaza and evacuate to Egypt, including her sister Suhad Al Masri age 47 and mother Siham Al Masri age 72 and the children Karam, age 9, Lujain age 7, and Siham Diaa age 4 and Siham Nizar age 3. 

 I came to know Areej on meta facebook messenger several months ago after referred by friends in Gaza who told me about her plight and her challenges with getting funds for survival. She is a very kind hearted person and sweet intelligent hardworking woman who struggles hard to support her family and has received very little assistance for most of the war leading she and her sister and Karam to wait in long lines for food and carrying large jugs of water often returning with little or nothing. Areej suffers from ear damage that needs consistent monitoring and monthly treatment and they need eyeglasses and dental work that they cannot afford.  

  Like many in Gaza they have lost their beloved home with its dreams, have been displaced many times and have lost many loved ones to bombing and many loved ones injured. Like many they suffer from frequent illnesses and sometimes parasitic infections with dwelling in a tent that does not sustain rains and winds and needs frequent repair. Like many they have to cook on wood with smoke that stifles their breathing and makes them prone to respiratory illnesses. Like many they must struggle day to day to purchase the most basic of items to survive and feed the children with the aid continuing to be blocked by the occupation and what food is available sold at exorbitant prices.  

  Though they do not want to leave their beloved land, nearly all homes have been destroyed by bombing as well as all universities and most of the schools, all mosques, most of farms and most of the water and sewage infrastructure making Gaza unlivable. Thus, they have made the difficult choice to leave Gaza if by chance they can secure the funds with evacuation very costly now at $6,000 per adult and $2500 per child. I urge you to reach down deep into your heart to help them so they can have hope again, not be hungry every day, suffering from illnesses, the heat and the cold and can hopefully start a new life with new dreams and goals.

 I am Areej Al Masri from Al Nuserat Gaza. I do not know where to start to tell you my story. Before this dreadful war I was working as a nanny in a kindergarten with children who inspired my spirit daily. My sister Suhad worked as a trainer in a gym and my mother worked as a principal in a private school. Like many Palestinians we value education and I come from a family of high achieving nurturing women. We have been through many wars in Gaza but none like this one. We have lost our home and with it many memories. We have had to move over and over to escape bombing and lost many loved ones who were dear to our hearts.  

  Every day is struggle to eat and to survive. We often do not eat so the children can. We have to wait in long lines for food and come back with little. Though we are women we have to carry large containers of water and travel far back and forth to get the water for drinking, washing, cooking and cleaning. We are constantly exhausted with backs and feet hurting. We live in constant fear of getting shot, maimed or losing our lives. 

   The conditions in our crowded tent are unbearable and getting worse due to invasion of insects, mice and even rats and snakes that frighten the children and keep us up at night scratching so we cannot even get relief from sleeping. We are prone to parasitic infections especially the children.  I have constant problems with my ears due to chronic condition of ear damage from previous infection that could not get proper treatment. I need monthly treatment that is expensive including for travel back and forth to the doctor. No one in the family can afford the dentist either and our teeth often hurt us. We cannot even afford eyeglasses and cannot see near or far. We badly need them and we worry our eyes are getting worse from trying to read without them. 

   We need many items including continual tent repair and gas tube for cooking. The smoke from all the cooking fires chokes us especially the children and especially the children and my mother Siham. Everything is very expensive and we go for most of the war with no meat or fish and for months with no cheese or eggs either and seldom fresh vegetables. We get sick from expired canned food. It all gets so tiring and it does not feel like a life at all. We just want to survive and have some normality, but day after day this war goes on with constant fear and hardship. 

 So we feel we have no other choice but to attempt to evacuate to Egypt from where we can travel to another country to start a new life and hopefully put this hellscape behind us. We may never get there and it will tear our hearts to leave Gaza but if we can just survive it will inspire our hearts to try and then we can return later.
