Save Iman Family Gaza
My name is Nina Christine Gorman, a psychotherapist and social science adjunct professor and supporter of Palestinian and human rights. I am doing this campaign to help my dear friends Iman Eid (35) and Hamza Eid (34) and their four children Mashallah (12), Mohammed (10), Tayeb (8) and Wafaa (4) to survive the terrible war and starvation in Gaza. I came to know Iman and Hamza on meta social media in numerous conversations in messenger when they shared with me the news and of the their plight and those of others in Gaza and when a Palestinian artist friend introduced us.
Like so many in Gaza they have been enduring such unspeakable suffering for about two and a half years now with repeated bombings losing their home and with it their dreams and having to run and move to escape bombing several times and enduring famine imposed by the occupation which restricts the much needed aid of food, medicine and medical supplies, tents, caravan homes and blankets and equipment to remove the deceased loved ones from the rubble. When aid was allowed in soon after the flour crisis famine, Hamza was shot in the abdomen while simply waiting for flour. Thank God he survived after a delicate operation and much time and suffering to heal due to the lack of medications. He is diabetic and struggles to get the required diabetic medication since it is in short supply like most medications and very expensive.
The family often has to choose between food and medicine and they are all malnourished and I have watched them become thinner and thinner. The tent is in need of continual repair and bitter cold in the winter and stifling hot in the summer. They could also use a gas tube for cooking since the wood is expensive and chokes them and those in their camp when so many cook with it. They are prone to illnesses and parasitic infections and cannot afford to travel to the doctor or go to the dentist for cavities or extractions. I urge you to reach down into your heart and donate what you can so this family can survive and so you can bring a smile to the faces of their children.
All donations will be transferred from my secure bank account to the secure Paypal of Hamza Eid.
Here is Iman in her own words:
I am Iman Eid from Al- Buriej, Gaza in Palestine. My husband and four children are living in a tent after we lost our precious home built by our grandparents a long time ago. This crushed our spirits and we have had to move over and over while bombs and quadcopters chased us and our relatives and friends shooting at us. This is surely been a war of extermination and we fear of the bombs and shootings do not kill us the starvation will. I will never forget that day when my children were crying from hunger and my husband Hamza therefore left to go to the aid distribution site operated by the soldiers of the occupation and of the Americans.
My husband waited in barbed wire and after he was attempted to retrieve a bag of flour they shot at him in his abdomen and he had to be taken to hospital where he was one of the lucky ones to be operated on and he miraculously survived after a lot of suffering and worrying by me and our relatives. We cannot afford our basic necessities like food, insulin, cloth and patches for the tent, a gas tube. Most of our clothes are thin and worn and we need shoes, underwear, pajamas and jackets and more blankets but we cannot afford them.
We cannot afford fresh vegetables and survive mostly on canned that makes us sick and on rice, lentils and noodles. We cannot afford cheese, milk, or any fish or meat or chicken. With the continual blocking of aid from endless wars the merchants charge higher and higher prices. Hamza and I and all the children especially Tayeb and Wafaa are prone to illness and infections due to the contamination of the sand and the crowdedness of the camps. There is nothing more painful that to see your children sick or hear them ask for shekel to buy a sweet or some fruit and to be able to do nothing. I encourage you to do what you can to help us and we will always remember your generosity and pray for you to have a thousand blessings.
Sincerely, Hamza
