The wind blew our gate open Thursday night and Izzy and her siblings got out just after dark. We couldn't find them, thankfully 2 of the 3 returned Friday morning back home. Izzy was out on her own. My best friend Nikki was helping look for her and right as she found her, watched her cross traffic onto west loop 289 (highway). She watched as a car hit her without slowing down or stopping afterwards. We got her to the vet immediately and did scans. She has a complete compound fracture of the femur (below) and we were presented with 3 options. Surgery with plates and screws to repair the bone, surgery to amputate the leg, or euthanasia. We are trying desperately to save her leg so she can have some type of quality of life afterwards. Vet bills are estimated to be between $4000‐5000 barring any complications. Any help is greatly appreciated!
