save my home

Please help me save the home my Husband and I Built Together My name is Linda, and I am a 55-year-old widow fighting to keep the only home I have left. My husband and I were together for 23 years. In 2021, we moved from Florida to Georgia and purchased a home where we hoped to spend the rest of our lives. Less than a month after moving in, my husband suffered a seizure at work and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered a massive brain tumor, and he underwent brain surgery followed by radiation treatments. After surgery, he was never quite the same. He continued to suffer seizures and eventually could no longer work as a truck driver. The loss of income, mounting medical bills, and ongoing stress placed a tremendous burden on our family. While we were coping with his illness, I received devastating news of my own. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent a complete thyroid removal in November 2023. Just a few months later, on February 21, 2024, my husband lost his battle with the emotional and physical effects of his illness and died by suicide. Losing him shattered my world. After his death, his life insurance policy paid off our mortgage, and I believed our home was secure. However, I later learned that property taxes were no longer being paid through the mortgage. Before I understood what had happened, I had fallen behind and was facing the possibility of losing my home. A company stepped in and paid the overdue taxes, allowing me to keep the house. During that process, I also discovered an old HUD lien on the property totaling more than $80,000 plus fees. Now I am facing debts I never expected and cannot afford on my disability income alone. Today, I am surviving on disability while working through the process of obtaining survivor benefits. The company that helped save my home now expects repayment, and if I cannot pay, I may be forced to sell the house. Selling would leave me with nowhere affordable to live and would mean losing everything my husband and I worked for during our 23 years together. If I lose my home, I will also lose the place where my seven rescued dogs and I live. They are my family and my comfort after losing my husband. I am asking for help to pay the debts attached to my home, prevent foreclosure or a forced sale, and allow me to remain in the house that my husband worked so hard to provide for us. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing my story. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any kindness, prayers, or support you can offer during the most difficult chapter of my life.
