Please Help Save O.G.’s Skoolie Home! 💜🚍

If you know me, you probably know "OG’s Skoolie", Arla, but if not, it is the mid-sized school bus I bought and self converted into my home, my safe place, and my way of escaping homelessness.

Last year, I moved to Houston, Texas in my bus for a promising job opportunity and a fresh start. Unfortunately, just a few months after saving up and moving into my apartment to allow me to continue working on my bus build, I was laid off without warning. Since then, despite having two college degrees with honors and professional experience in my field, I’ve struggled to find stable employment in the current Houston job market. I’ve been doing whatever work I can to support myself and make it through this difficult season, but only have just barely enough for my monthly expenses.

My plan was to finally move back into my bus when my apartment lease ends on September 19th. The bus has been my home and a project I’ve poured years of work, savings, and love into. Unfortunately, the engine has now suddenly failed. My bus is currently stuck at its storage facility and cannot be driven nor lived in there. Without being able to repair it, I’m facing homelessness when my lease ends in just 36 days at the time of writing this.

I don't have savings sitting around to cover a major unexpected engine repair, and I've already been doing everything I can to make ends meet. There simply isn't enough left to handle something this big on my own, so I'm humbly asking for help. The money raised through this fundraiser will go directly towards repairing Arla’s engine, necessary towing and related repair costs, and getting my home safely back on the road and ready for me to live in.

This bus is so much more than a vehicle to me. I bought it myself, designed it myself and built it myself (with the occasional help of friends and family) piece by piece, and poured years of work, money, creativity, and love into it. It represents strength, independence, freedom, and a home that I worked incredibly hard to create for myself. I have tried very hard to figure this out on my own. Asking for help is not easy for me, but right now I'm desperate.

I’m asking for help raising the money needed to repair or swap the engine and get my home safely back on the road, so that I can safely live in my home again. I've been estimated $7,500 for an engine, not including time and labor.
