Hi, I am the second oldest in a family of 5 kids, two parents. Recently we’ve been stuck struggling to scrape by, and are in the process of moving out of a bad situation. Our mom works out of state, where we’re in the process of moving to, and our dad is… unhelpful. Our mom is the only income as of right now. Our dad is an abusive alcoholic, and he’s made it impossible to get anything done while mom works full time at a hospital. He refuses to work, and none of us kids are able to get employment as we are still living in an unincorporated town in our (hopefully) soon to be old house. We have a general store and a gas station here, both are never hiring. Most of the money that comes in goes towards as many bills as we can cover at both houses, food is the second top priority, then a good chunk goes to gas and propane for our current house. Our current house is an unfinished cabin, powered by a construction generator, and takes a lot of gas. Us two oldest live in separate RVs on the property, mine needs the propane because mine is the only one with a working fridge, and both RVs require propane for heat. The “main house” is heated by wood stove. We’ve hit a crossroad, and are in danger of losing both houses because we just simply can’t afford it anymore. As of this moment, we are behind three months on our current house, including $4,500 on rent, $500 for water, totaling $5000. We are behind on the second month’s rent on the house we’re trying to move into, totaling $1,500, that includes rent and power. Us two oldest are resorting to anything we can to help our mom, taking odd jobs for a little cash and so on. Anything helps and is extremely appreciated among us kids.
