Help Hazey Acres Residency remediate serious mold and water damage.

Shoog McDaniel is a beloved queer, transfat artist living in rural North Florida. For the last seven years, they have opened up their home to over 200 like-minded individuals and artists, providing a peaceful, supportive respite and residency.

A few weeks ago, Shoog discovered substantial flooding in the subfloor of their trailer caused by rats chewing through their pipes. The subsequent damage- floorboard buckling, subfloor warping and mold growth in walls- is now dire, affecting all common spaces in their home and the Hazey Acres residency space. These repairs are unfortunately not covered by homeowners insurance.

Shoog is not currently able to live in their house or host artists while mold remediators rip up the flooring and several interior walls, and other plumbing issues are sorted. In order to ensure the longevity of this vital queer resource and the overall health of our beloved Shoog, we hope to raise $25,000 for the following:

1. Mold remediation in laundry room, guest bedroom, bathroom, living and dining rooms.
2. Replacement flooring for all common areas.
3. Re-piping of the entire house.
4. Trailer skirting replacement.

Shoog has spent about $9,000 in the last several weeks replacing pipes, but they will exhaust their savings and be at risk of defaulting on their mortgage without community help with the remaining bills.

We will post receipts/bills from plumbers and mold remediators as we receive them.
