Save Sophie's Leg

We found Sophie hobbling down the road in rural Eagle Lake on Sunday evening 1/21. She was starving and unable to use her right leg. We talked to some local neighbors and they had seen her being thrown from a vehicle several days before. We brought her home and took her to the vet the following morning.

Sophie was diagnosed with a brachial plexus avulsion which means the nerves in her shoulder have detached from her spinal cord and she will not regain use of her leg. She is able to get around fairly well as long as we keep her leg pulled up and not dragging the ground. Amputation is the only solution to keep her from self mutilating the dead leg and causing a host of other problems.

She has quickly learned how to use the doggy door and is fully house trained. She is quickly fitting in with the rest of the family.

We have fallen in love with her and want to do everything we can to help her. Unfortunately, she is not eligible on my pet insurance for this as it is a pre-exisiting injury.

Were hoping to schedule surgery as soon as possible so she can regain quality of life.

We are asking our animal loving friends and family to donate if possible to help us get Sophie on the road to recovery. Any assistance is much appreciated.

We have received the estimate from the vet and updated our donation request.
