Save the Homestead
As some of you may know, John is currently facing an unfounded yet serious legal charge in California. The accusations, supported by absolutely no hard evidence, stem from 2015 when John ended a relationship with his former girlfriend. It was and continues to be a combative ending with a revenge seeking person.
John was forced to legally evict the woman from his own home in California when the relationship needed to come to an end. Shortly after that and upon discovering that she had forged his signature on a $4,000.00 check, charges were filed. She was found guilty of Forgery, Grand Theft. It was at this point that she began making unsubstantiated felony accusations against John to the County Sheriff’s Department.
When contacted, John voluntarily answered questions asked by the Sheriff’s Department and explained the sequence of events outlined above. No further action was taken by the Sheriff's Department. In August of 2015 John moved to central Texas to be closer to work colleagues.
Approximately 2 years later the local Texas Sheriff's Department contacted John regarding the vindictive charges raised by the former girlfriend. Again, he volunteered to meet with them but this time the interview was done with a polygraph (lie detector) device. His answers were all determined to be honest.
During the summer of 2020 COVID was at pandemic levels and John’s work visa was in jeopardy of not being renewed. Now married, John and his wife Vickie decided to move back to Canada. They purchased a home 45 minutes outside of Ottawa, Ontario and began to settle into their new rural community.
Two and a half years later Canadian authorities unexpectedly detained John for extradition back to California. He has been held in a California jail since October 2023. Unfortunately, justice is not speedy in an overwhelmed legal system with far too few workers.
Also unfortunately, as John has worked to clear his name and finally put this matter behind him in a court of law, John and Vickie’s personal financial situation is now strained to a point where they may lose their home. Vickie’s health is keeping her from working, and while she has done all she can to keep living expenses low, the lack of income from John means that eventually their funds will run out. Eventually is within 2 – 3 months. Their situation truly is very dire.
The loss of their home will give the ex-girlfriend the revenge she seeks. A few of John’s closest friends put this appeal together to prevent that from happening. Any contribution you can make to help John and Vickie’s financial outlook will be greatly appreciated!
