#savejiraiya Vet bills
I just rushed to the vet with my boy Jiraiya who is what I think is experiencing bloat. (The vet took him back and I'm in a room waiting) He was still able to walk in when we got here so prayers would be greatly appreciated 😔🙏
UPDATE 1: Jiraiya arrived to the vet just in time for them to save his life (they said he was within the last few minutes of his life if I hadn't got there when I did. They pulled 7 liters of air out of his chest).
Turns out he was actually suffering from spontaneous pneumothorax which has very similar symptoms to bloat and is just as life threatening. From what the vet said this is something any dog can experience although rare and nothing we did/could do can prevent/stop it. They're hoping that the air going to his chest stops on it's own, but the vet was doubtful. She said if it continues she would put a tube in his chest temporarily to keep the air from being trapped and then try a blood patch. If the blood patch doesn't work then they will have to do surgery. We're panicking for so many reasons right now but so far Jiraiya has been a fighter and we haven't had a call from the vet with any bad news. I'll keep everyone updated
UPDATE 2: Jiraiya needs the surgery but he needs to be stable in order to transport him to the specialist. The vet said said that with surgery he could live a normal life and that the odds of this happening again is low. She also advised how expensive this was and hinted that we could euthanize, BUT THAT IS NOT AN OPTION for us. So some how we're coming up with the money, and we're waiting for the vet to let us know when he can be transported. Jiraiya will come home somehow ❤
