Saving History

When I first walked into this old church, I didn’t just see a building that needed work. I saw history.

I saw the years of people gathering here, the memories that were made inside these walls, and a building that had been an important part of the community for generations. I knew it needed a tremendous amount of work, but I also knew I couldn’t just stand by and watch a piece of history slowly disappear.

I took on the challenge of giving this building a new life and turning it into a home. My goal is to preserve as much of the original character and history as possible while making it safe, comfortable, and livable again.

But there is one problem that can’t wait — the roof.

Years of weather and storm damage have left the roof in serious need of repair. Water getting into the building is already causing additional damage, and every time it rains, the risk of losing more of this historic structure increases.

I’m setting a fundraising goal of $50,000, which is the estimated cost of repairing the entire roof. If we can’t reach the full amount, the money raised will allow us to tackle one entire side of the roof and stop the most critical water damage.

I’m not asking people to help me buy a house. I’m asking for help saving a piece of history that I believe deserves another chance.

I know $50,000 is a big goal. I also know that not everyone can give a lot. But $5, $10, $25, or whatever someone can afford adds up. Even sharing this fundraiser with friends, family, and people who believe in preserving old buildings can make a difference.

I’ve already put my own time, money, and a lot of sweat into trying to save this place. I’m willing to keep doing the work. I just need some help getting over the biggest hurdle — getting the building protected from the weather.

If these walls could talk, they would have a lifetime of stories to tell. I’m trying to make sure they get the chance to tell a few more.
