Securing Our Safe haven
Despite being someone who rarely asks for help, I’m at a point where I feel desperate. I’m a mother of three—our oldest has moved out, our youngest just left for college, and our middle son, who is 23 and has Down syndrome, still depends on us deeply. My husband, my mother‑in‑law, and I have been struggling through a terrible month with no income. I recently had heart surgery and have been mostly couch‑bound since June. I’m pushing myself to work, but because I’m paid per case and can’t drive due to dizziness, I’m limited in what I can complete. We’re three months behind, and I’m terrified of losing our home; our son would regress, and we’d be forced into an apartment or living with relatives. My husband has also been dealing with medical issues that have kept him from working. We don’t have anything left to sell, we don’t eat out, we don’t take vacations, and we’ve never lived extravagantly. I’m grateful our daughter earned a full ride to college, but right now we’re simply trying to survive. We’ve always helped others, and now we’re praying for help ourselves—just enough to get back on our feet. I’m holding tight to my faith and trusting in the Lord.
