Our Lady of Good Counsel and the NJ Department of Education are dedicated to working to enhance the safety and security of our students and our school. Providing a school environment that permits students to feel safe and secure is a vital component of a child's education, and has become a major focus for educators across the country. To this end, OLGC has worked closely with the NJ DOE in order to remain up to date with the latest trends and best practices in school safety and security. The NJ DOE has conducted an unannounced drill observation, a walk-through physical security assessment of the school and campus, and has provided training for staff members at OLGC. The NJ DOE also recently conducted an informational/training session for the parent community.
To remain in the strong direction of safety and security, OLGC's Security planning process, with help from the New Jersey State Dept. of Education, took into account a wide range of possible threats and hazards that may impact the school/church and we have developed a comprehensive emergency plan.
To implement and develop this plan we have compiled lists of materials, equipment, and work that are still required. With your help, we will continue to make our campus secure.
OLGC families and friends helped raise $25,000 last school year in a record 3 months! Let's do it again!
