Send Hana to Camp Newman
Hello, I'm Hana. I'm a 7th grader at Hayama Junior High. I live at home in Hayama, Japan. I'm in the badminton club. I love it here in Japan because I have amazing friends.
But there is no Jewish community. So I go to this Jewish camp. It's called Camp Newman. This year would be my 3rd year. We do shabbat every Friday. We have a feast and dance the night away. We also do activities like Torah Lishma. At Torah Lishma, I learned how to read a tiny-little-wincy bit of Hebrew. I have friends there. Camp Newman is important to me because it's the only time I get to be in a Jewish community. And it's a part of me.
The reason I'm writing this to you is because I'm doing a fundraiser to go to camp. For my fundraiser, I'm running a 2.5km race (1.5 miles). The reason I picked running for my fundraiser is because I wanted to show how much I wanted to go to Camp Newman by doing something I've never done before. The race is in Kurobe in Toyama, Japan on Saturday, May 24th. My goal is to run it in under 20 mins. My money goal is $1000. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
