Hello Friends and Family,
Thank our for visiting my FreeFunder page. My dad and I are preparing to serve on a 10-day medical mission trip to Uganda with a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Mercy Medical Mission team. The team will consist of 7-15 volunteers and may include medical professionals, LCMS pastors, and non-medical volunteers, like myself, who come from all over the United States to serve in a particular country. We will be setting up healthcare clinics and providing desperately needed healthcare to the Ugandan people who come. Within the 10 days, we will be seeing and providing healthcare to between 2,000 and 4,000 patients. Many times, our care will be the only medical treatment that they receive in their entire life.
I have had a strong desire to be part of a medical mission trip all my life and have the passion to use my talents and skills in the medical field to help serve others in a impoverished country. Also, as I prepare to pursue a career as a physician assistant, I want to also use this trip to see if medical missions is something that I desire to do full-time. You may ask, why Uganda? Well, did you know that, based on the Uganda Poverty Assessment of 2016, in 2013, more than a third of its citizens lived below the international extreme poverty line of US $1.90 a day? Although that number is decreasing and there are many efforts being made to improve Uganda's economy, less than a third of households (31.3 percent) have adequate sanitation and a quarter of poor households have no toilet facility at all. Uganda is a very unstable and fragile country and it has one of the world's youngest populations, with half of its population being children under the age of 15. This is mainly because Uganda was where the AIDS epidemic hit the hardest and there is a large generation gap because of its effects. Needless to say, the people of Uganda desperately need help and I am asking for your support as I go and help provide healthcare to God's precious children in Uganda.
I am honored to also be able to pursue this opportunity with my dad, who is also going to be a participant on this trip. Will you please consider supporting us as we travel to Uganda? Together, we need to raise approximately $8,000 to cover our airfare, in-country transportation, food, lodging and other expenses. In addition to your financial support, I also would like to ask for your prayers. I would request prayers for safe travel and that God would be glorified by the work that will be doing and that many people will come to know and trust Him through our trip.
