Service dog for Stability

Our story begins in 2001 with a young baby girl with hazel eyes. At 17 days old she nearly died of rare heart complications but in 2014 - 15 years later -  she's miraculously still alive. In that same year, she was diagnosed with 2 mental disorders. Due to neglect of treatment, these disorders worsened. She also suffered many traumas over the 15 years and the 3 following. At 18 she finally got help. Hi. My name is Kenlee Bates and this is a snapshot of my story.  As you read, when I was 15 I was diagnosed with 2 mental disorders. My parents left them untreated so they progressively got worse. I'm now 18 and have been diagnosed 3. One of them being a trauma related disorder that stemmed from experiences during childhood. These disorders cause mayhem in my life. I severely struggle with daily life activities like work, grocery shopping, socializing, and more. Large crowds, confrontation, loud voices, and physical touch are part of the small fractions of things I'm hypersensitive to due to childhood trauma. These triggers cause debilitating anxiety attacks, isolation, nightmares, disassociation, and other trauma related symptoms. As part of my treatment plan I've been working on getting a service dog for 4 years. The opportunity has now arisen but there are some financial roadblocks. Hence why I'm now starting Service Dog for Stability. Due to these disorders I now struggle with panic and anxiety attacks, focus, going to work, socialization, and other various PTSD-like symptoms. I've been searching for a service dog for a total of 4 years. A service dog combined with the rest of my treatment plan will help alleviate these symptoms. Stability is something every human needs and I strive to gain it with my service dog by my side. I've found a program that I've been approved for if I can come up with the funding. This program services people in the area for free. However, I live out of state. I have 2 options. I need to be able to travel to Bandera, Texas once a week for 12-16 weeks or be able to pay $10,000-$12,000 for the company to train the dog and then hand him off to me. My involvement with the training process would strengthen my bond with the dog as well as it would potentially be cheaper to travel to Texas if it is planned right. However, the option we go with will be determined by how much we raise. With the help of friends I've been able to calculate that lodging would be around $100-$200/night, flights could be anywhere between $84 and $350 round trip, food would be around $30, and transportation cost will range between $100-$150 using a ride service. If scheduled correctly all 12 weeks of training could average out to an estimated $4,000. This is where we need your donations. The earlier we book the flights and lodging, the cheaper they are. This is urgent. I strive for stability. I strive to be able to go to the grocery store and not have an anxiety attack. With your help I can be training my service dog in a few short weeks. With each donation, you're all helping me achieve stability. If you're unable to donate I urge you to share with friends, family; heck - even strangers. Each dollar donated, each facebook share, each instagram post, and each donation can get us closer to our goal and only takes a few moment of your time. Thank you so much for reading, sharing, and donating.
