​Two nights ago Sevvy suddenly lost his vision and hearing. We spent 12+ hours back to back between the ER and urgent vet from 10pm straight through the next morning.

​He has upper retinal detachment in both eyes from very high blood pressure. We aren't sure what caused the spike yet, but his main labs look okay overall (aside from slight anemia).

​We just saw a cat eye specialist today! They’re running some specialized labs, but our game plan for right now is:

1- ​Treat for a potential fungal infection (due to plaque buildup in his eyes)

2- ​Continue his blood pressure medication

3- ​Use anti-inflammatory eye drops to reduce the inflammation

​The lab results will take about a week to come back, and we’ll go from there.

The amazing news is that we caught this early enough that there's a 50% chance his retinas can heal and reattach! Either way the Vets are confident that he'll adapt really well and still have a great quality of life regardless.
