Shadi Fam Escape Gaza

My name is Nina Gorman, a 68 yaer old psychotherapist and social science teacher in Philadelphia, PA, USA and supporter of human rights for many years. I am doing this campaign for my friend Shadi Al Najjar (age 40) and his wife Walaa Al Najjar (age 34), Shadi's brother, Ahmed Al Najjar (age 21) to and the three children of Shadi and Walaa from Khuza, Gaza, Palestine to survive and evacuate from the war in Gaza. The three children are daughter, Leanne (age 11) and two sons, Yamen (age 9) and little Tariq (age 4). (See the photos).  I came to know the family on Meta social media early in the war with many conversations about their plight. They are of high integrity and I have been always impressed by by the sense of humor of Shadi in such difficult conditions and his determination despite his severe injuries.

The family has endured unspeakable sufferring from war in Gaza including bombings and starvation especially Shadi and Ahmed who both sustained severe abdominal injuries from shrapnel from missile. Ahmed has ileostomy from his wounds and is malnourished. Shadi has injuries to kidney uretur from the shrapnel and complications from his genetic blood disorder of sphereocystosis that causes severe anemia and complications making need now for him to have gall bladder and spleen removed. He is in temporary evacatuation in Qatar getting treatment and fears for the lives of his family in Gaza whom he will return to shortly when the operations are over.

The whole family is traumatized by continual bombings that persist despite an alleged ceasefire, with quadcopter drones creating fear for all those in in Gaza with their constant buzzing day and night and chasing and shooting people. He fears what happened to him will also happen to his wife and children. In addition, the family has no income, are malnourished and anemic and must wait in long lines for food and carry heavy jugs of water for washing and drinking and sometimes come home with nothing. The aid is merely a trickle and the food especially vegetables are extremely expensive at prices as high or higher than in my own country.

The family especially the children with their weakened immune systems and malnourishment are prone to parasitic infections due to the lack of sanitation with santiation removal equipment blocked by the occupation, The tent is badly in need of repair damaged by the previous wind and rains. The family needs medicines, foods, drinks, vegetables, cleaners, clothes, and a new tent or at least new tent cover with patching. They also need extermination supplies since bugs of all kinds and mice and rats enter the tent making it difficult to sleep since they crawl on them and bite and itch and cause rashes. The heat in the summer makes the tents like ovens. They could really use a fan or two to enable some comfort and prevent dangers to health of heat exhaustion

In sum, life for them has become unbearable and they are in severe trauma and at risk of starvation. Though they love their land, home to their ancestors for generations, Gaza has been reduced to rubble by the occupation that functions with impunity since no one stops them. Thus, they have made the difficult decision to attempt to evacuate Gaza to try to move to Egypt and from there to Italy where Walaa with her gradute degree in psychology hopes to find work at an international univiersity, and Shadi health permittig to return to work in agricuture or open a vending business.

I urge you to reach down deep into your heart and help this struggling family survive the cruel hunger, and sickness and sufferring from injuries and from living in tent from displacement. They have lost everything. Help them have hope that they can live again with some degree of comfort like most people in the world and to have dreams again for a normal life in the future. They will be most grateful.

All funds from donations will be transferred from my secure USA bank account to the secure PayPal of Shadi. I posted the budget below the words of Shadi.

My name is Shadi Al-Najjar, 40 years old from Khuza, Gaza. My wife is Walaa and my children are Yamen, Leanne and Tariq. My family has been displaced multiple times from bombing and is now in Khan Younis, Al- Mawasi by the sea. We lost our home and with it not just all our items but our precious memories and dreams. Before the war I worked in farming and my wife studied hard for her graduate degree in psychology. I am very proud of her and we love each other dearly. My brother and I were badly injured from missile with my brother sufferring with intenstinal injury from shrapnel in his stomach and I from shapnel injury in my kidney leading me to have to have stints inserted. My brother is very sick and in pain daily. I am very sick and in pain everyday also and have had to have surgery after surgery. I need to have spleendectomy to remove my spleen and cholecyterectomy to remove my gall bladder that is damaged and has large stones. I also have blood disorder that makes me anemic and sick for life in need of constant medications. I am in Qatar for short while for surgeries until I can rejoin my family whom I miss terribly and whom I worry about everyday. It breaks my heart that I cannot be with them and support them now and that Walaa cannot feed them either with her high education since there are no jobs available in Gaza.

I know my family is hungry every day and my children tremble wtih every explosion in a damaged tent that does not protect them the pests and the heat or cold or rain. All of us are so tired of this war and Gaza has been destroyed almost entirely. Now there is no life for us there just suffering everyday. Thus, we have decided to leave our homeland and evacuate to Italy via Egypt when when the crossings open so that our children can have an end to this torture and a decent life and education free of fear and hunger. Please stand by us so that we can survive and and start a fresh life elsewhere until we can return to our beloved land when it is new again. May God grant you many blessings and we will remember your kindness forever.

  Sincerely

    Shadi
