Sharon's sobriety

My name is sharon. I am 246 days sober today. I can honestly say this has been the hardest and most beautiful journey of my life. It has been so amazing having my mind, my body, and my love for the Lord being awakened as though I had been sleepwalking for so very long. I was so very lost in my addiction that it took me a long time to realize what changing my people, places, and things truly meant. It means you no longer have all those contacts you used to reach out to it all hours of the night. It means following the law. It means respecting people their homes and their property. It means standing on my own two feet and blaming no one but myself for how things turn out. I'm learning to live a different way and it feels great. At the same time I feel a quiet urgent desperation building inside of me. My first few days sober I slept where I could. I've since gotten a safe place for me to sleep just for me exclamation I have family that was lost to me and my addiction that is helping me all they can but finances are tough all over. I've not yet been able to get stable steady work partly because I don't have a car but I'm working on that. Life just seems to kick me in the teeth every time I get to Nichols to rub together. I hate to ask anyone for anything, but recovery has taught me to ask for help when I need it. So if I find myself penniles with a payment due that can put me back in jail and right back at step one in a week. I know it's hard on everyone out there right now and I promise to pay it forward if anyone out there knows what it is like to be trying so very hard to stay sober while gaining housing, employment, a whole new life. Anything helps! And if you can't help me financially please pray for me. Prayer is always appreciated!
