Shiznit’s scope/surgery
Last Sunday, I noticed Shiznit was not acting herself. She’s a 3 year old Belgian Malinois, who is normally bouncing off the walls. Unfortunately, she wasn’t. Every time she would bark it was very horsey and scratchy, and a deeper tone. She really didn’t want to eat her food which she normally needs a slow feeder. I took her into work with me on Tuesday and we did an exam and some blood work and decided to just watch her. Thursday morning she didn’t eat her breakfast at all, and she was very lethargic and started vomiting. I took her back into work with me and she lost a pound overnight. The vet on staff that day wanted to do chest x-rays to make sure she didn’t have bronchitis or blasto looking lungs. Her lungs did look a little busy, but nothing too concerning. The vet did notice, though, an abnormality in her esophagus. She had us do extra x-rays of her esophagus and we sent all rads to the radiologist. The radiologist agreed with the vet and said her esophagus was abnormal looking and recommended doing a scope with a specialist. The radiologist mentioned a possible perforation, a foreign body, or a mass in her esophagus. Not only was there one spot that was abnormal but the radiologist found a second spot that looked abnormal. I contacted several different specialist and unfortunately, I am being quoted anywhere from $7000-$10,000 for the scope alone. Just to walk in the door is $275. This is not something that we can just hope it heals on its own. If she does not get a scope/surgery, I will lose her. This is not easy for me to write up as she means so much to me and the thought of losing her is killing me. I am definitely having to swallow my pride on this. I really hate to beg, but I am begging for anything to help pay for her scope/surgery.
