On the night of Monday October 9th, 2023, my 55 year old roommate shot my unarmed boyfriend Dustin in the back 3 times in the backyard outside my bedroom window, where i was, then he took his own life, and unfortunately had not paid any of his portion of rent or utilities for the month of October. The blood, broken glass and tear gas has made the house unlivable for us with breathing problems, while we battle with the landlords over having the house professionally cleaned. Dustin spent 6 days in the hospital and i have stayed by his side in the hospital and now am providing his care during this long recovery. He will at some point still require another surgery to remove the colostomy bag that had to be placed in order to save his life that night. Luckily his job is being held for him, but in the meantime we all had to pool together to cover our deceased roommates debts after we had received a 10 day notice to pay or get out. Rent is coming up again, utilities are past due, and we are running low on medical supplies and other things needed to survive, and we are not sure when we will be receiving income again. We have applied for help through the victims of violent crimes services, but everything takes time and also we have no clue as of yet, how long he will be out of work. Anything helps in the meantime.
