Single Mom needing help
My Story of Resilience and Hope
The past few years have tested my strength in ways I could never have imagined. In March 2020, I lost my only sibling, my beloved brother, who was a U.S. Army Veteran. His passing came suddenly and left a void that nothing could fill. As I was grieving, I was also caring for my father, who was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s. My role as his caregiver was incredibly challenging but deeply meaningful. Just a year and a half later, in September 2021, my father also passed away. Losing both my brother and father in such a short time took an immense toll on my heart and mind.
In the middle of this emotional turmoil, my husband of fourteen years—the high school sweetheart I thought I’d spend my life with—abandoned me and our two young daughters. He left without support of any kind, leaving me to manage both the emotional and financial responsibilities of raising our children alone. Due to financial constraints, I have not been able to pursue a divorce, which has left me in a difficult situation.
Now, I am also the primary caregiver for my 70-year-old mother, who lives with me and my daughters. She and my father had been divorced since I was young, and she depends on me for support as she ages. We are each other’s strength, but balancing these responsibilities has been overwhelming.
After my father’s passing, a small inheritance allowed me to buy a vehicle. However, in June 2022, I was involved in a serious highway accident that totaled my car through no fault of my own. While I have a personal injury lawsuit in progress, my recovery from the accident has only added to my financial challenges. The injuries and the compounding life events have made it hard to work steadily, leaving me in an ongoing struggle to stay afloat.
I was able to secure another car for a time, but recently, it was repossessed. I couldn’t afford the $700+ monthly payment due to my limited income, and losing it has created a significant barrier to finding stability for my family.
Through all of this, I remain committed to providing a stable home and future for my daughters and my mother. I’m reaching out in the hope that a car donation could be the lifeline we need. A reliable vehicle would allow me to work consistently and take my mother to her medical appointments, providing some much-needed stability and independence for our family. Thank you for considering our story.
