Tessie Vasquez
Skylar's MFI Journey
I am thrilled to announce that I will be competing on August 5, 2023 at the 10th Annual Miss Filipina International (MFI) 2023 Pageant which will be held in Los Angeles, CA. I was selected from a global search of many qualified Filipinas to take part in the most prestigious Philippine pageant. I am proudly representing my home town of Danville, CA, La Union (Tubao) where my mother's family is from as well as Negros Occidental (Bacolod) where my father was born. I am currently attending Arizona State University to obtain my BS in Business Management. This summer I am participating in a Goldman Sachs insight program while also competing for a shot at the crown as the next MFI title holder.
In brief, Miss Filipina International is a pageant created to showcase and highlight the beauty, intellect, and cultural pride of today's young Filipina. It is a pageant in search of those special young women in today's Filipino communities around the globe with the beauty, grace, and dynamic personalities and intelligence that set them apart from the rest. Miss Filipina International has a unique status as the only Filipino beauty pageant in the US with tourism promotion as its fundamental core value and holds the distinction of being the only Filipino pageant to be nationally and globally televised annually.
I am confident that I can do well in this pageant, which could lead to many opportunities for me in the future. As an official contestant, I aim to be an advocate for the Stroke Health Awareness Foundation. This organization holds a special place in my heart as I get to share my Father's journey on the road to recovery in hopes to educate families on stroke prevention, improve stroke outcomes and share information on nutrition and leading a heart healthy lifestyle. Collectively with your support, a portion of your donations will also go towards the foundation at the end of my fundraiser.
As you can imagine, the training and preparation for a pageant requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and resources. I've put in a lot of time, effort, and energy into this competition, and at this point, the support and motivation from those around me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the love and support! God Bless!
