SoundCity Singers: Designing social concert experiences tailored to the modern audience
Introducing a new generation to classical music by redesigning the definition of a concert.
What does a SoundCity experience look like?
Instead of sitting and watching, audience members participate in the concert and engage in meaningful dialogue about their experience afterwards. By using electronic programs, our social team collects data and feedback from each event and uses design thinking strategies to come up with an entirely different presentation of the repertoire for the next event.
Goals and objects:
-Raise $50,000 to cover start-up costs, non-profit application paperwork and concerts for two years
-Attract major donors between the ages of 25-40 who will continue to support the organization for the next 50 years
-Attain 100 subscribers of millennials new to classical music who will attend concerts regularly and give valuable outsider feedback about how to reach new audience members
-Hire 12 professional singers and compensate them adequately for their time and skillset
-Produce an archive of video and photo content to gather social media followers
-Host 1 major launch concert and two follow up smaller series concerts in the first year
-Gain 5,000 followers on social media
