In 2016, 69,000 individuals from all walks of life had passed away due to an overdose of opiates. that is 175 each day.  Many that struggle with this addiction feel that there is no help available to help them overcome this misery.

There is help available. recovery is possible. I am proof of that. I was an active Heroin addict for over 10 years of my life and I felt the same as many of those out there struggling with this addiction. I came to a point in my life where I no longer wanted to live that way. I took action and did something about my addiction, Today I have been clean from all Opiates for over 4 1/2 years. There is help out there, RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE!!!! 

In 2014, I created a Facebook group called "Stop Heroin in Kenosha". I was fresh in recovery and I lost a close friend of mine and instead of resorting back to what I always did, I looked for some help in the community and could not find anything, so I created my own. I began to send out messages to people and explained what i was going through and it grew into a 1900 member group of all walks of life, from professionals, social workers, regular everyday people.

Stop Heroin in Kenosha inc is an organization that helps addicts and their families, or families that lost a loved one to heroin addiction. We help by educating, sharing a message of Hope, and Hands-on by working with addicts or the families to overcome the misery of heroin addiction.

Stop Heroin in Kenosha helps addicts get the help that they need and want. That may be by going to detox or inpatient rehab, or by working one on one with them. We help the family by educating them on the signs, symptoms, what to look for, or if the family has lost a loved one to the addiction we then help them deal with the grief, put them in contact of other loved ones who have lost a loved one. We do whatever is necessary to help the addict and family, Every situation is different and we can never make a plan until after we meet them and determine what will work best.

Also, Stop Heroin in Kenosha works with the community on educating and doing awareness events, once we bring the awareness we then bring the resources and educate the community on how to help and what they can do to help a loved one, friend or colleague at work. 

We use the money to continue to help addicts and families, to provide the informationals that are printed, we make our own t-shirts, we hold events to bring aware, and each summer we hold the Annual Stop Heroin in Kenosha BBQ, We have a family style BBQ open to the entire community, providing free food, non alcoholic beverages, face painting, speakers, and resources from the community come and set up tables to provide the resources that are needed to help the addict and family to continue to overcome the misery of Heroin Addiction.
