"You have cancer”
Three words nobody ever wants to hear.
As a young woman of 28, Jessica was diagnosed with Stage 2 Malignant Melanoma, her diagnosis is a form of cancer more aggressive and fast-moving than average. Melanoma is the most serious and deadly skin cancer. It requires multiple ongoing doctor's visits, procedures, and surgeries.
Jessica has a passion for nature and wildlife which led to her making the decision to give up a well-paying full-time job at 27 years old to pursue a degree in Biology and Ecology, she will have earned her degree in Spring of 2023. Soon after she left her job, she was welcomed as a part time intern to further her experience with an Environmental Consulting Firm.
Jessica is very hardworking and is an extremely positive person. However, after two surgeries, the cancer spreading to the lymph nodes and the possibility of radiation and immunotherapy treatment - her world has been turned upside down.
As a student and intern, it has been a financially difficult time for Jessica and her family. Her current medical expenses include blood tests, biopsies, tumor removal, SPECT imaging, oncology… and the list goes on. Since Jessica works part time, she makes the bare minimum simply to pay her existing bills and expenses. She has had to miss work quite frequently due to appointments, surgeries, and recovery time. She is now struggling to pay the bills that are not medical.
Mentally, the strain has been worse. Jessica has put on a brave face for much of her diagnosis, and although she remains strong and faithful that God will guide her through, the stress and anxiety are taking their toll on her and her family.
It is difficult for Jessica to ask for help because she is a very independent and self-sufficient woman. Even so, she was convinced that with this fundraiser, we could help alleviate unnecessary financial stress while she focuses on what is important, her health and her recovery. The funds raised here by you will go towards helping Jessica and her family with their loss of income, medical bills, family support, alternative therapies, and living expenses.
Thank you for taking the time to read Jessica's story, we thank you in advance with any support you are able to give and help Jessica fight this. Even if you cannot support financially, simply sharing this page is much appreciated.
