Support Davona’s Fight
There are moments in life when everything changes in a single knock at the door.
For Davona Williams, that moment came when she was detained by immigration authorities and taken away from her children. One day she was a mother doing what mothers do, making sure homework was finished, meals were cooked, bills were paid, hugs were given. The next day, her family was left terrified, uncertain, and fighting to understand how their world had been turned upside down.
Davona has since been released and is home with her children. That alone is a blessing. But this is not the end of her fight. It is only the beginning of a long and costly legal battle to remain in the only community her children know.
She is still fighting her immigration case.
While she waits for her hearing, she has not been granted a work visa. That means she cannot legally work. She cannot earn income. She cannot provide in the way she has always worked so hard to do. The system has placed her in an impossible position. She is expected to survive, to keep her home, to feed her children, to pay legal fees, and to prepare for court, all without the ability to earn a paycheck.
The stress of that reality weighs heavily on this family every single day.
Davona is not asking for sympathy. She is asking for a chance. A chance to fight her case with strong legal representation. A chance to stay housed. A chance to keep her children stable, safe, and grounded while the legal process unfolds. A chance to remain the mother her children rely on.
Legal defense in immigration court is expensive. Attorney fees, filing costs, and court related expenses add up quickly. On top of that are basic living expenses such as rent or mortgage, utilities, food, transportation, and school needs for her children. Without the ability to work, every month becomes a struggle to hold on.
No child should have to wonder if their parent will disappear again.
No family should have to choose between paying a lawyer and keeping the lights on.
Davona’s children have already experienced the trauma of watching their mother taken away. They deserve stability now. They deserve to go to school knowing their home is secure. They deserve to see their mother stand strong in court, supported by a community that believes families belong together.
This fundraiser will help cover:
Legal fees for ongoing immigration defense
Court filing costs and required documentation
Housing and utility payments to prevent displacement
Basic necessities including food and transportation
School and childcare related expenses
Every contribution, no matter the amount, is an act of protection. It is a declaration that this family does not stand alone. It is a commitment to ensuring that Davona can focus on preparing her case instead of fearing eviction or hunger.
If you are unable to give financially, please share this campaign. Talk about it. Stand in solidarity. Community support is powerful. It can be the difference between collapse and resilience.
Davona is fighting for her right to remain with her children. Let us fight with her.
Let us make sure this family stays whole.
