Support Kim and Talon
When someone you care about is hurting, you wish there was something you could do to ease their burden.
My name is Lianne, and I am writing on behalf of one of my closest friends, Kim.
Over the past year, Kim and her husband Ryan worked hard to build a new chapter for their family. They relocated with their young son in pursuit of new opportunities. As you may know, they had already weathered countless moves, sacrifices, and challenges together. They expected hard work. They never expected heartbreak.
Ryan, a disabled Army veteran who served his country honorably for more than two decades, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind his wife and their baby.
In an instant, Kim became a widow and a single mother.
As she struggles to process the loss of her husband and best friend, she is also facing overwhelming financial realities. The family's home in Virginia has been on the market for many months without selling, leaving mortgage obligations in both Virginia and Hawaii. Ryan's disability income ended with his passing, and although Kim is eligible for survivor benefits, those benefits won't begin for 6–8 months.
Anyone who knows Kim knows she is one of the strongest people you will ever meet. She has spent more than 22 years serving her country, caring for her family, helping others, and carrying burdens without asking for help herself.
Right now, she should be focused on grieving her husband, caring for their young son, and finding a path forward—not worrying every day about how to keep everything afloat.
The funds raised through this campaign will help provide stability during this difficult transition by covering:
• Mortgage payments
• Essential living expenses for Kim and her son
• Childcare and family needs while she searches for employment
• Utilities, insurance, and other household expenses
• Financial support during the gap before survivor benefits begin
No donation is too small. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign would mean just as much.
Most importantly, thank you for helping remind Kim and her son that they are not facing this journey alone.
On behalf of Kim and her family, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during a time no family is ever prepared for.
With gratitude,
Lianne
