On Saturday, May 30, 2026 Mateo Saldana—a devoted father, son, brother and friend—was the innocent victim of a senseless act of violence. While simply walking, he was struck by a gunshot to the abdomen and critically injured. He is currently recovering in the ICU and has already undergone one major surgery, with another still ahead of him.

Mateo faces a long and difficult road to recovery. In the months to come, he will require extensive medical care, rehabilitation, and time away from work as he focuses on healing.

As many of you know, Mateo’s greatest joy is being a father to his 2-year-old daughter. During this challenging time, he and his family are facing not only the emotional toll of his injuries but also the financial burden of medical expenses and lost income.
