Many of you are probably just finding out the very sad news that Reggie Armistead has been diagnosed with throat and tonsil cancer.  Unfortunately, this is a result of the HPV virus that Reggie had contracted years ago.  As I'm sure you can imagine, this news came as a shock to Reggie and his entire family.  Reggie and his wife Lisa are remaining extremely positive and ready to kick cancer's ass. 

Most of you know Reggie through our baseball community here in Huntington Beach.  From Ocean View Little League to the Stingrays baseball organization Reggie (more well known as Coach Reggie) can be heard yelling “Wear that…we've got ice” while coaching 3rd base or sitting in the stands.  Reggie is a prominent baseball figure in our community and has coached and assisted many of our children over the years.  It is now our turn to help him.

Reggie's cancer does require immediate treatment.  He has already started undergoing chemo and unfortunately this is going to be a very difficult journey for him…physically, mentally and financially.  When I asked how we could help, the one request was, “To help keep JR's day to day life as consistent as possible”.  Our 11U Stingrays team is making the commitment to help get JR to practices, tournaments, and whatever else needs to be done to assist the family.  In addition to helping with the logistics, we have decided to ask for donations to assist the family financially to help cover all of JR's baseball expenses.  Every contribution, whether big or small, will directly alleviate some of the financial strain on the family, allowing them to focus on what truly matters—fighting and overcoming this illness.  

All donations will go towards JR's coaching fees, field rental fees, tournaments, Little League expenses and anything else Reggie and Lisa may need help with for JR. Your support, in the form of a donation of any amount, or simply by sharing this campaign within your networks, will be an invaluable lifeline for the Armistead family. Your kindness will bring hope and relief during this challenging chapter of their life.
