When the animal shelters closed during Covid and rescuing animals in peril was not prioritized, I rushed out to pick up dogs and cats posted online that was hit by cars and otherwise starving and struggling on our streets. I could not believe animal services was not deemed an “essential service” at the time. As an active independent rescue volunteer, I more or less became a “Skidrow ambulance”. I have continued to rescue a lot of animals ever since, including 70 dogs from homless drug addicts living living under tarps along the railroad tracks in Watts during the last year, and 27 dogs in the High Desert in the last couple of months. I am not able to afford doing this rescue work on my own, and I’m dependent on help from the community.

This is a fundraiser for the veterinary bills (only) incurred for homless’ pets and street rescues during Jan-April 2025. NOTE: It does not include food, supplies, boarding costs, and other rescue expenses, which come in addition.

Please will you support my mission to save animals suffering on our streets, so that more can be helped? I am an independent outreach rescue volunteer (not an organization), but I work closely with a veterinarian where I have a rescue account due to the amount of rescue I do, and also with various rescue organizations in terms of placements of the animals.

I know it’s pretty crazy for an individual to front large amounts in veterinary bills like this, in the hopes that the community will support, but I have. I just cannot stand seeing innocent beings suffering, that are completely dependent on us. I do not take donations for specific animals before I have secured them and brought them to a vet.

In order to continue my volunteer work, I obviously need to pay off the bills. I’m hoping more people will support.

We have a choice to make:- Do we leave the suffering animals limping, starving and bleeding on our streets like in a third world country, or do we pick them up and help them…?

We all know the limitations of our animal shelters these days with so many killed every week, and now with talks of closing three local shelters due to budget cuts.
