Support street rescue LA
My name is Rannveig (Ronnie) Krokdal. I’ve been rescuing animals off the streets in Los Angeles for years, working closely with the community and local rescue organizations. When Covid hit, I was shocked to learn that Animal Services was not deemed an “essential service” and shut down. The shelters did not send out officers to help injured and emaciated animals found on the streets, and instead told people to leave them where they were found. The Animal Cruelty Task Force has also been dismantled due to budget cuts. Since then I’ve more or less been rescuing full-time.
After Covid, when people started returning adopted animals, rescue organizations became so inundated they could no longer intake, So I formed a relationship with a veterinarian, who gave me a rescue account, and I’ve been saving a lot of of animals independently in Skidrow, South LA, Watts and Compton all the way up to the High Desert. From time to time I rack up high veterinary bills - despite the discount, and I now need to create a fundraiser to try to pay off the approx $24 K I still owe by the end of the year.
The reason I do this volunteer outreach work is I feel it is important to stop the backyard breeding, which continuously fills up our shelters with unwanted animals, who sadly end up being euthanized. We need to “stop the train” rather than just “run after it”. Another focus of mine is neglected animals that suffer due to human abuse or neglect - often chained, not receiving any medical care or nutritious food.
I’ve been able to do what I do with the support from the community, and I thank all of you who have helped in various ways - with transportation, online networking, fostering, walking dogs in boarding, letting rescue dogs play in your yards, or donating towards veterinary care, supplies, and boarding costs.
❤️🐾 It takes a village!
This fundraiser is for the medical bills owed - NOT the supplies or boarding cots that come in addition. I currently have 8 dogs in boarding, costing approx $1000-$1200 each per month. They were all rescued from horrendous situations, and deserve to find loving homes. If you would consider fostering or adopting a sweet, fully vetted dog, please reach out to me at 310 804-1555 (via text).
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any support, so I can continue my volunteer work to help these precious innocent beings, who are so dependent on us. There’s no bigger joy for me than to see the light come back in their eyes, their smiles, and the happiness they bring to the kind people that come their way….
