Supporting Our Mom
Hi, my name is Juan, and I’m raising funds for my mom, Magda Roque, on behalf of my family. She is 69 years old and lost her husband (and my dad) of over 35 years in 2019. Two days before Christmas 2025, she was diagnosed with advanced cancer.
She has taken the news with such grace. She is a believer and knows that God is in control. Every time I visit her, she is in good spirits, and she especially loves having her grandchildren visit her.
Everyone who knows my mom knows that she loves to share her faith with everyone she talks to. During one of my visits, I even found her having a one-on-one conversation about her faith with a nurse at the hospital. That nurse tells me she wants to keep in touch with my mom.
My mom is currently waiting for the biopsy report to determine next steps, which may include surgery to remove the tumor, chemotherapy, or radiation. We anticipate receiving news about the biopsy around January 9, 2026.
The tumor is in her abdomen and is causing a lot of pain that radiates down one of her legs. She is quite weak and struggles to get up from chairs and beds. Because of the location of the tumor, she is unable to lie down comfortably or walk easily. At this time, she is unable to work while we sort out next steps.
Funds raised will help cover essential expenses such as rent, utilities, medical bills, and prescription drugs. She spent eight days in the hospital during the holidays. My hope is for her to focus fully on healing without the added stress of financial uncertainty. She rarely asks anything of us, yet she is always willing to lend a hand with anyone who needs it, she graciously helps with her grandkids, and loves to serve any guests at her home.
It is hard to ask for help, but if you are able to donate, we truly appreciate it and are deeply grateful. Please also feel free to share this with my mom’s friends and community.
