Suzie Donnan needs your help.
As many of you know, my beloved parents, were Edloe and Margie (Chickie) Donnan. Edloe, my dad, gave up everything for me - his job, his relatives from Baltimore and Richmond to move to St.Louis so I could stay with my family and go to one of the best deaf schools in the US, instead of living in a dormitory. They are in heaven now, along with their two sons, my brothers, and I know they are looking down at me as I navigate the unfortunate crisis of divorce.
Here is my story.
After 37 years with my husband, he now wants a divorce. He is partying and started smoking marijuana as if he were an irresponsible teenager. Unfortunately, he denies that he needs help. There is no communication and he refuses to attend couples therapy. He is counting on his father's inheritance to hire the best lawyers to "get rid of me" !
I have made countless efforts over the past two years to make this marriage work, to no available. I have been seeing a therapist to heal myself and become an independent and happy woman. I just finished my summer job at Home Depot, trying to support myself since Husband cut all available funds from me. We have two dogs and still exist uncomfortably under one roof, until other living arrangements can be made.
I contacted dozens of attorneys to ask if they had the capacity to take on a pro bono case but unfortunately that avenue proved unfruitful as well. I have spoken with an attorney who is willing and able to advocate for me but require a retainer to proceed . Given my dire situation, I do not have the resources to retain legal help.
At the encouragement of several dear friends, I am reaching out to you. I am in need of the retainer fee required to move forward with legal representation. I know most of us are not in a place to give a large amount, but I am standing in faith that a little will add up to enough. If you are unable to give financially, please know that I empathize and would be blessed to have your prayers. I am so grateful for your generous love and support. Thank you doesn't seem like enough, but thank you. I will forever be indebted to your kindness.
Love,
Suzie
