My Journey with the Inaugural Georgian Court Lions Baseball Team

My name is Jaydon Cabezudo, a senior outfielder and pitcher at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey. This year marks an historic milestone for our university: the first full seasons of competitive baseball in GCU Lions history. As a member of this brand-new NCAA Division II program, I feel incredibly honored to help lay the foundation—representing Perth Amboy pride on the diamond while wearing the blue and gold in my final year of collegiate play.

Since joining the team, I’ve poured everything into building something from the ground up. From early practices to road games (including strong outings against teams like Bloomfield and West Virginia Wesleyan), every moment has been about growth, teamwork, and chasing excellence in a program that’s just finding its footing. This spring, our schedule includes exciting travel opportunities—road trips to competitive venues—that will test us against strong opponents, strengthen our bonds as a team, and create memories that last a lifetime. These trips are essential for player development, team chemistry, and giving a young program the exposure it needs to thrive.

As a startup program, we face real challenges with funding, especially for travel costs that aren’t fully covered. This is my last chance to compete at this level, and I’m determined to make the most of it. To participate fully in our three key spring trips, I’m working to raise $1,000 to cover my share of expenses—transportation, lodging, meals, and related costs.

I can’t do this alone, which is why I’m humbly reaching out. Any support you can provide—whether a small donation, sharing my story, or spreading the word—will bring me closer to this goal and help ensure I don’t miss out on these once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Every contribution makes a direct difference in allowing me to focus on pitching, hitting, and helping the Lions build momentum.
