I vowed that 2019 needed to be the most boring year ever. My mom died in 2016. I beat cancer in 2017. I was diagnosed with MS in 2018. I had had enough. I wanted a boring, non-eventful year. But, what fun is that?! Doug and I spend some of our ‘spare time and money' to help make our community better. We have always helped with local programming, and even branched out to national campaigns like CF Foundation, and St. Jude's. I was approached at church and asked, “hey you're a teacher, wanna go to Rwanda?!” Well I guess that's one way to grab life by the horns! I'll be traveling with a group of four other teachers, and one church leader to a rural community in Rwanda, Africa. Once broken by evil genocide the country prides itself on peaceful serenity as the safest country in the entire continent. I'm excited to partner with the teachers of a local Rwandan school to collaborate and share ideas about what students from around the world have in common and how they can be their absolute best. There are many reasons you may consider helping me on my journey. You may just love me and want me to have safe and healthy travels. You may love education and want me to become a more thoughtful teacher, and hope I can be valuable to the teachers I work with in Rwanda. You may love children and want to know I can share love and laughter with them while there. You may love God and know His work can be done through me on this mission trip.... there are many ways you can help. 1. PRAY. Whatever it is in you to offer. The money donated can go to a variety of items. Teacher supplies and student supplies to gift to the school. The school supports 1200 students. We'll be bringing many gifts with us. Gifts of gratitude to the teachers, superintendent, travel hosts, Bishop. We also hope to give monetary donations to the families to help buy mattresses, animals, and home necessities. And of course, my travel expenses. 3. Please- Share this post.
