TEAM TARA

**UPDATE:  She beat the parvo, she had surgery to help the skin on her face, she continues to have large amounts of fluid and swelling.  She had a CT Scan, the bones in her face are "non existent".  We don't know what caused this, waiting for her bone biopsy results now.  You can follow her progress on our Facebook page "Missouri K9 Friends".  We are looking for donations to help cover her medical costs and future HBOT treatments (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy).  If you can donate, thank you.  If you can share this fundraiser, thank you.

This is Tara. Tara is a baby, she's about 4-5 months old. She was going to get dumped in a cemetery because she was bit in the face 6 WEEKS AGO by a snake and her owners “couldn't take care of it.” Another person saw them dumping her and took Tara home. These new owners did not have the resources to take care of Tara and did not take her to a vet.  They attempted treating the wound at home. Tara ended up with dead flesh and maggots coming out of her face and nose. She also contracted Parvo. As it became obvious she needed more than home remedies, they reached out for help through Saving St. Louis Pets and took her to VSS.  The estimated bill to try and save Tara was overwhelming and they decided to surrender Tara so she could get the help she desperately needed.  Tara is now under the care of Missouri K9 Friends. She is being currently being treated for Parvo. She has about a 50% chance of making it now. Her first night at VSS she had about a 10% chance of recovering. We're doing chest x Rays today as she has a wet cough that is concerning. She made it through the night against all odds. She enjoys her meals of chicken and rice and does wag her tail.  Parvo can go from recovering to deadly in a moment, Tara is not out of the woods yet.  As long as she continues to fight to survive, we are right along side her, fighting with her.  We're doing everything we can to give her every chance possible. If you'd like to donate to this sweet baby girl please do.
