New Life with Cancer
I looked for a word that describes the joy and terror, I felt. when I finally found out what is wrong with me. The dreaded C word.
I'm Teena Davis: massage therapist, mother, philosophical optimist and DES Daughter.
Diethylstilbestrol (DES) is a drug that was thought to prevent miscarriage, instead caused Clear Cell Adenocarcinoma to develop in the daughters at various ages.
After my last episode in 2002, I was told it was very unlikely to come back. Unfortunately it did come back, and I'm scared it will spread before I can have it removed.
My physician indicated there is no way to know the prognosis before surgery. I am self-employed, and must prepay $10,000. While it seems a lot, my doctor is heavily discounting the portion insurance doesn't cover.
So, I'm faced with no choice but to ask for help, now. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Even if you can't help monetarily, please help by spreading the word.
My health is important to me, but so is getting this information to other DES Daughters.
Wishing you health and happiness,
Teena
