The Travis Foundation
Hello my name is Robb Libengood.
In April of this year 2017 I lost my little brother Travis to the disease of addiction/alcoholism. He left behind 2 children he was only 37 years old. I'm starting this fundraising campaign because one no one deserves to live in the pain and isolation that is unique to this disease and two, because there is nowhere in this town to help with the cost and logistics of a medical detox which these people need. Having gone through this my self and literally getting laughed at and thrown out of both hospitals in this town there is an overwhelming and immediate need for services in this town and many others. Not only for addiction services but mental health, cost of prescriptions and a safe and helpful environment for these folks to receive the care and understanding they need and also deserve. Doctors and nurses are not adequately trained to handle or deal with people coming in with addiction and or mental health problems brought on by addiction. This money will be used to acquire a building, staff and to help and cover the cost of transportation to and from these various appointments. My heart is in this charity having experienced all of this first hand. I needed help and didn't receive a single thing but laughed at and shoved out the door. I don't want anybody else going through what I had to. They deserve to be treated like humans, because they are.
In this town if you have money or private insurance you get helped immediately. You get a bed.. You instantly get help detoxing and counciling. You walk in there and say you have Medicaide you get put on a list of over 80 people and five months if you are lucky they will call you. Hopefully you are still alive because along with this disease comes major depression. Five months to someone who is sick is like living a year in one day. Desperately needing someone to care or help.
I appreciate your time in reading this. Thank you again.
