The XIMENA fund
Ximena Matha Murchadh (March 6, 1976 - September 5, 2023)
Funds donated in memory of Ximena will be dedicated to providing emotional support and healing for families and community groups personally impacted by a loved one's homelessness. Homelessness is a complex and multi-faceted social problem for which there are no easy fixes. Fortunately human beings do not need to be fixed, they need to be loved. This fund will be a means to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual guidance and healing to individuals and groups who love and care for people on the streets, in shelters, or who have passed away under such circumstances. The aim is not to “fix” or find solutions for the “problems” an individual has, nor is it to blame or point fingers at their families and communities who “failed” to help them. We believe that the roots of homelessness start within one's childhood home, that inherited family patterns play a major role, that mental health stigma, racism, and transphobia cannot be ignored, and that relational trauma can be healed through psychotherapeutic techniques, even when the loved one is not able to participate. It is time to stop focusing our telescope on the lone star and start to see the constellations.
