My name is Aaron Suttles. My father and I have ran our own construction business for almost 4 years now. Workers compensation coverage for owners is elective so we did not have it (only because we could not afford it). We decided to hire on some people over the last few months and we needed those funds to pay their workers compensation coverage. In hindsight, maybe we don't charge enough for our services but we come to this with very little business knowledge so we are learning everyday.

On April 19th, dad had a bad table saw accident. His insurance will likely deny coverage when they hear it was a work related incident and try to pass it off to workers compensation which we obviously don't have on ourselves. He will probably then be required to pay everything or write it off as bad debt. He also will not be receiving a check for his lost wages or missing digits from workers compensation either.
