my name is Athana and i served 18yrs and 6 months in NCCIW. I was sentenced at the age of 22yrs old. Young and lost. My daughter was 4 and my son was 1 at the time. I have never read a book until prison. I was raised poor and being SA by 16 people Women are men. I was messed up mentally and didn’t have anyone to talk to that would believe me at the time. Long story short, I’m home now and have been for 7yrs. My daughter is 31 now and my son is 25 now. In my second yr free I had a heart attack, then stroke.

in 2023 I had a back surgery that left me disabled on my right side. In 2024 I had to have another back surgery and now my body is worse. My balance is off, my legs are numb and I’m in a wheelchair. I’m currently on SSI and it’s not enough to cover all my bills, I’m tired of living but not living. I can’t do much of anything now so I wish that I had the money to travel and to see the world.when I leave this world I would like to leave my kids and 3 grandchildren something. I need help please! I’m tired of laying in bed!!!! I want to live even though I can’t enjoy everything anymore.
