I'm Nathan (he/it), a 22-yr-old trans man from California, and I have top surgery coming up on December 16. I'll stay at home for recovery, and the hospital is a 3-hour drive away. This means I'll need to make two round trips, once on surgery day + again on Dec 26 for my post-op visit.

I'm unemployed due to physical disability. I'm an artist, so for a while I sold commissions and that let me earn enough to buy my post-op recovery supplies with $86 left over. Joint pain has forced me to stop doing commissions though, and the $86 I have will only cover one of the two trips. My roommate will be doing the driving, but she's as poor as I am & already doing so much to help, so it's my responsibility to pay all my surgery-related expenses.

The full cost for two round trips will total $126-159 (Expenses are laid out below). I already have $86, so I only need $40-74 to cover the rest of it. Stripe will take a small percent of the total raised funds, so I set the goal to $80 to compensate for that, but as long as I can get $40+ I should be good. Even if you can only spare a dollar, that puts me $1 closer to not getting sepsis from leaving my drains in too long lol. Any amount helps!!

• Roommate's car = 19-21 mpg (city-hwy)

• Avg gas price in CA = $4.20 /gal

Minimum cost (Shortest route, best gas mileage):

4.2(270 ÷ 21) + 9 = $63 per round trip

×2 trips = $126

Maximum cost (Longest route, worst gas mileage):

4.2(321 ÷ 19) + 9 = $79.48 per round trip
