Trapped in Rental
My Fiance and I work full time and are currently renting a condo from my fiance's boss. He just raised the rent $400 to $2,400 a month. We have to pay weekly 600 out of his check which leaves him very little and we use that for gas and some food for the week. That leaves my paycheck to pay EVERYTHING else. We have a $800 a month truck payment that is paid twice a month at 400. So two out of my four paychecks I have to pay the truck. So everything else gets paid out of my check the phone bill, the car insurance, the remaining food, the power bill. We are one week away from being homeless if something catastrophic happens. We also have six animals..... Five cats and one dog. My fiance has lost 35 lb in the last 3 months just because of stress. I'm watching this man who works his life away just to pay the bills driving himself into the ground and I cannot help him anymore than I am. We came close to buying a house but got outbid at the last moment. Now we currently cannot save the money to move. We have come up with an idea to live in a camper while we can save money to buy a house and be able to deal with a mortgage that is affordable. We were actually close to having a down payment again for a house.... And then the truck needed $2,000 to be able to get inspected. That's just one example of what happens when we get any money saved.....Now we're back to zero once again.
We both work close to a combined 100 hours a week and we can't afford to sustain this much longer. Our current schedule every week with 1 vehicle is grueling. I work at Dunkin donuts as a manager. We have to leave Monday -Wed at 330 am and Joe goes to sleep in the truck until 5 then goes to work so the physical stress is overwhelming at times. We'd like to move into an RV or a travel trailer which will greatly reduce our monthly expenses. We live in Maine so there is plenty of opportunity to live year-round in a camper. We can realistically save for a house much faster and with a better chance of a better down payment We obviously don't honestly think we deserve a handout but we honestly recognize the fact that we're in serious trouble if we can't somehow lower our bills. We need to somehow save money to move to a cheaper apt or use the money to purchase and register a RV or travel trailer so we can get back to securing our future and we can't do that right now. We already have multiple trailers for just under 10k in mind but we would also obviously be open to any help including a donated trailer. We are a very prideful, hardworking couple who love animals and at age 50 and 53 we are running out of time to enjoy the rest of our lives. Any consideration to help with our ability to just live a normal life in the Maine woods would be LIFE CHANGING.
Thank you,
