I have an opportunity to attend a once in a lifetime event being hosted by the Convention of States Foundation in Texas this September. It is called "Grassroots Article V Experience" and is being held in Comfort, Texas. This event is designed to give a firsthand experience of how a Convention of States works and go through the entire process of Plenary Sessions and Committee meetings to formulate amendments based on our three articles: 1-Placing Term Limits on Congress, Judiciary, and Staffers, 2-Imposing Fiscal Restraints on Congress, and 3-Restrict the size and scope of the government. While there, I will represent our states interests as we run through a Simulated Article V Convention scenario, including committee meetings and floor debates where we will discuss and vote on possible amendments. I have been a volunteer with this organization since 2021 and am the Maine State Director for the non-profit part of this organization "Convention of States Action". I have been chosen to be one of the two volunteers to represent Maine at this convention. This Grassroots Experience is a three-day event and is scheduled for September 17-19, 2024. The fee to attend the convention is $1500.00, this has been paid but I still have to provide my own travel, hotel,and rental car and after exhaustive searching for deals is estimated at $1200.00.
