Hi friends & family!!!! As most of you know, I've accepted a 3rd grade teaching position at Beaver Ridge Elementary! It's a dream come true. Seriously. It's my favorite thing to talk about and one of the many reasons for my smile every day. I cannot wait to start!

With that being said, starting up a classroom is quite expensive. I'm asking if you would consider donating just $5 towards supplies and materials for my room – all of which is pictured below so that you know exactly where your money is going!

Beaver Ridge is a title 1 school, where 83.5% of the student population receives free lunch. The 8 hours spent in my classroom may be the most peaceful experience a few of my students have that day, and I want to make it a continual safe haven and place of comfort for them! Your donation means the world to me, and my future students!

Below are just a few of my many ideas I want to implement – 

1. The first idea I want implement is flexible seating.
           a. Exercise balls, stools, pillows on top of crates, & scoop chairs

Benefits to flexible seating: Students learn best when they have some control over their environment, and flexible seating allows students to change their location and position as needed. When children cannot move, they become distracted or disruptive. Flexible seating allows students to bounce, lean, twist, kick, fidget, wobble, stand, kneel, and sit to suit their needs. Comfortable students are calm, focused, and productive. Finally, many flexible seating options stimulate students' sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information. Sensory input is especially helpful for students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD!!

2. Secondly, I need library book bins for my class library!
These book bins will help me organize my collection alphabetically, or by topic!

3. Table caddies will save time in transitions and help students stay focused as all of their materials are sitting in front of them!

4. I'd also like a couple of rugs. One for when students are gathered on the floor for whole group instruction, and another for the classroom library area!

5. Other materials I need include: clothes pins (about a million and ten of them), a laminator, sharpie paint pens, Velcro, a “treasure box” for students to go to for rewards, storage containers, spray paint, bulletin board trim, folders (also need about a million and ten), command hooks, cardstock, and a magnet timer!

So… could you skip a Starbucks coffee and help a girl accomplish the perfect atmosphere for her little nuggets? ;)
